Join us for an illuminating cinematic event at the Civic Theater in Farmington on Thursday, October 2. Filmmaker and Michigan State University Professor of Practice, Rola Nashef draws on her 17 years of experience and knowledge of independent filmmaking to share her story about how creating a short film enabled her to produce and direct her debut award-winning feature, Detroit Unleaded, and how the film was made possible because of the previous Michigan film incentive
There will be a social hour beforehand at the Farmington Brewing Company that will be open to all, but then MiFIA members and ticket-holding attendees will be welcomed into the theater where we'll screen her short film, then the screening of the feature film version of
Detroit Unleaded, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.
Nashef's first film was the first Arab-American Romantic Comedy that became a favorite amongst audiences and film critics alike. Prior to its release, Detroit Unleaded was supported by the Sundance Institute Screenwriter’s Lab, IFP New York, The Lincoln Center and the A2E Distribution Labs.
MiFIA members can enjoy the complete program while they are supporting the creation of a new multimedia incentive for Michigan. Become a Member today!
Social hour is opened to all - mention the "MiFIA Event" to Farmington Brewing Company bartenders for 20% off your drink purchase.
